Tick Tock


“Dougie, what are you doing?”

Dougie looked up, expression akin to that of a deer caught in headlights, a spoon dangling from his lips, a carton of ice cream in his hands, wearing nothing but his boxer shorts and socks on both feet.

Harry turned down the stereo that was blasting music in the living room and turned back to the bassist.

“Well?” Harry prompted.

“Umm, I didn’t think you were home,” Dougie said, cheeks flushing heavily.

Harry quirked an eyebrow at him. “Well, I am home, so what are you doing?”

Dougie mumbled something and looked at his sock clad feet.

Harry took a step closer to Dougie. “I didn’t quite catch that,” he said.

“I was dancing,” Dougie said still not looking up.

Harry chuckled. “Don’t let me stop you,” he said turning the stereo back up.

4 minutes by Madonna and Justin Timberlake blasted out of the speakers and Harry looked back at Dougie who was shuffling from one foot to the other.

Harry took the ice cream and spoon away from Dougie and held his hands in his own. “I’ll dance with you,” he said loud enough for Dougie to hear him over the music.

“What, with your two left feet?” Dougie yelled back.

Harry looked affronted then shrugged. “You’re right,” he grinned. “But if you want to dance, I’ll dance with you.”

After a moment, Dougie began to move to the beat of the music, Harry’s hands in his own. He loosened up and was soon dancing surprisingly well with Harry.

At the end of the song, Dougie was giggling, flopping onto the couch with Harry. Harry wound his arm around Dougie’s shoulder and pulled him close.

“So, what would you do if you had four minutes left?” Harry asked a little seriously.

Dougie grinned. “This,” he replied, lips closing over Harry’s in a soft, love filled kiss.
